    • RESEARCH: Nothing further is known of Catherine (Campbel) Hodges. Her birth date is recorded in the James Boyd Campbell Bible--as is the birthdate of John Hodges. However, John Hodges' death date is also recorded, but the death date of Catherine is not. It seems likely that Catherine lived longer than John. She is not, however, found:
      in the 1880 census in 1883-1893 birth and death records (Shannon Co appears to be missing from these records) in a FindAGrave listing in Missouri as "Catherine Hodges" in Missouri marriages as "Catherine Hodges"
      Additionally, an Ancestry search for the couple John Hodges and Catherine Campbell finds their listing with other Campbells, but no death date for either of them, and no child listings. It seems likely that Catherine may have died soon after John, or moved to another state. Born in Texas county, Missouri, November 1, 181 [sic]; died in Shannon county, Missouri, February 20, 1923; aged 71 years, 3 months and 19 days. Mr. Campbell was married in Texas county on January 28, 1877, to Miss Nannie Smith. To this union were born nine children, six sons and three daughters (a son and a daughter having died in infancy.) The widow, on the home farm in Shannon county, near Summerville; five sons, Willis, of Howell county, Willie and John, of Colorado, and Edward and Mills, of Shannon county, and two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Hines with her mother, and Mrs. Ruie Harris, of Summerville, survive and all were present at the funeral, which was conducted from the Methodist church in Summerville on the 25th of February, 1923. He was very energetic and always worked for the upbuild of the community. He was superintendent of the Methodist Sunday school for eleven years or more, and had been a faithful member of the Methodist church ever since early manhood. He was a very devoted husband and loving father. He was so kind and patient and during his last sickness he endured his suffering without complaint. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
