Unreliable Ancestry tree offers this date of death,

However, an administrator was appointed for Isaac L. Shelby, deceased, in Montgomery County, on 27 October 1835. An 1830 census record in Montgomery Co for "Isaac Shelby" suggests that this is another man, as his implied age is between 30 and 50, and Isaac L. Shelby would have been only 18.

There may have been a relationship, however, which could be why Isaac L. Shelby was usually identified with the middle initial.
