Mrs. Arch Wilson Rites Held April 21

Smith Center lost a resident of more than forty-nine years in the death of Mrs. Arch Wilson on April 18. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson moved to Smith Center in the spring of 1906.

Memorial services were conducted from Simmons-Olliff chapel Thursday, April 21, with the Rev. Kenneth Kirkendall officiating. Burial was in Fairview cemetery.

Mrs. Laura Mae Burgess and Mrs. Clare Morgan were the vocalists with Mrs. Frances Gibson as pianist.

Pallbearers were Earl Dudley, MarvinBonnett, Kay Mays, Alfred Patten, Ira Cole and Floyd Hommon. The flowers were in charge of Agatha Ray, Vera Castle, Gertrude Reed, Florence Haberly, Violet Cameron, Clara Conn and Gladys Hughes.

The following obituary was handed the Pioneer:

Eugenia May Wilson was born into the family of Alice M. and Willard Livere Bucklin on October 2, 1885, in the Dewey neighborhood, Smith county, Kansas. She lived there until six years old and then moved with her parents to a farm near Atwood, Kansas. When eleven years old they moved into Atwood and when fifteen moved to Smith Center, Kansas. She was the oldest of six children, four girls and two boys.

She was married to Archibald C. Wilson on October 7, 1903. They first lived on a farm northeast of Kensington, where one son was born. In the spring of 1906 they moved to Smith Center where their three other children were born and where they have lived since then.

Mrs.Wilson passed on to her heavenly home April 18, 1955 at Smith County Memorial Hospital.

Eugenia joined the Methodist church while living at Atwood, and later transferred her membership to the Smith Center Methodist church. As long as she was able she remained a faithful servant to her family and any in the community who were in need of care. But her kindness and generosity remained through her twelve and one-half years of illness. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her husband Archibald; two sons Willard of National City, California and Rayden of Omaha, Nebraska; one daughter, Vienna Goodwin of Smith Center; one brother, John Bucklin of Colorado Springs, Colo., and one grandson, Roger Wilson of National City, Calif. One son, Perry, preceded her in death, perishing June 2, 1935 in theRepublican river flood at Scandia.
