When Della married her second husband (John Lonnem, a Norwegian who had been naturalized to Canada), she became a British citizen; after her divorce from Lonnem, she moved back to California and had to once more become a citizen of the United States.

    Be it known that at a term of the District Court of The United States held pursuant to law at San Francisco on November 23, 1944 the Court having found that Della Eveline Lonnem then residing at 1137 Hanover Street, Daly City, California intends to reside permanently in the United States (when so required by the Naturalization Laws of the United States) had in all other respects complied with the applicable provisions of such naturalization laws and was entitled to be admitted citizenship thereupon ordered that such person be and she was admitted as a citizen of the United States of America.
    In testimony whereof the seal of the court is hereunto affixed this 23d day of November in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and forty-four and of our Independence the one hundred and sixty ninth.

As her granddaughter, Jesse Keenon relates, Della had a very difficult time being reinstated as a U.S. Citizen after she left John Lonnem, from whom she was apparently never divorced. (The Certificate of Naturalization indicates that she is married.)«/i»
