  Text	My Howell county roots go back to Nathaniel Barnett, a Baptist minister, who came to Howell County from Meigs County, TN about 1859. His son, James Dallas barnett was my ggrandfather, whose son, Victor Barnett, was my grandfather. They left Howell county in the 20's. A daughter of Nathaniel, Mary Melinda, married Wilson Van Cunningham. They lived in the Willow Springs area. Susie Cunningham m. Lyman Cash Clingan and they also lived in the Willow Springs/Hutton Valley area. So this is the Cunningham connection which does not seem at this time to relate to any Cunninghams in Jasper County. Another of Nathanaiel's sons, Obed Nathaniel, was a long time resident and Baptist minister in Howell County. He m. Mary Jane Henry. One of his sons was William Finley Barnett who m. Mollie Arbogast. In 1902 he moved to Carthage as foreman for the Carthage Democrat paper. He then went to Webb City to work with the Webb City Register. He established papers in Alba, Oronogo and Purcell. In 1913 he came to Joplin and opened a printing shop. A son, William Edward Barnett was a doctor in Lapeer, Michigan for most of his life. A daughter, Wynette, was a drama teacher and later received a dorctor's degree and became professor of speech and theater at the Whitewater State University in Whitewater, Wisconsin in 1946. She was quite a distinguished individual and received several credits of accomplishment in her career in newspaper articles at the time of her death. I have only a bare-bones genealogy on Molly's family as I was not pursuing the family in detail. If you have other questions, let me know. I hope this has given you some idea of how I relate.
