Text Thank you for your reply!! I am excited to find someone else who is working on the KOONCE line! Anyway, I will answer your questions:

1- How was Elijah & Robert Houston Koonce related? Robert was Elijah's son, born: Nov. 18, 1867 Norris city, White Co. Illinois. He was the first born to Elijah & Catherine Bolerjack Koonce.

Elijah was born in Sumner County, TN. He was born to Elijah Willis & Mary (??) Koonce. They had 5 chlidren: Robert, Elizabeth, Jasper & Nancy. (And of course Elijah)

Elijah Married CATHERINE JANE SUTTON, Dec. 2, 1858. They had one son, James Willis Koonce (my Great-grandfather) Elijah joined the civil war in 1862, and that is the last mention of Jane. I believe that she had died. (her parents were Jacob Nancy "Agnes" Knox Sutton)

Elijah then married #2- Emma Allard in 1864. I believe that she may have died in childbirth, There is a child named Phillip That was born around the same time, That is Elijah's.

Elijah then Married #3 Sarah Catherine Bolerjack, July 26, 1865 in White co. IL. They had:Robert Houston, Tomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Rebecca Jane, Emma & Loren. Catherine died May 27, 1884 In West Plains, Howell Co. (They moved to Howell Co. Abt. 1871.)

Elijah then married #4 Nancy Adeline Evans, July 19, 1894. They had: Vernon Lee, Ernest (twin to Vernon), Ray, Fay (Twin to Ray) and Ruth Cleora Koonce. Ernest died at 8 mo. and Fay died the same day of her birth.

They moved to Kingfisher Aft. 1900 , OK. Elijah died October 24, 1920 and is buried in the Kingfisher Cemetery, OK.

This is probally too much info to swallow at once, so I will stop there!! Please tell me how you are related to Elijah?? I would like to see where you fit in!!

Also, Jim Koonce is working on this same line, and this is were I have found alot of info. His e-mail is: jamesgkoonce@cs.com

Do you have any info on Wesley Koonce? Elijah had a grandson named Robert Wesley Koonce, Maybe they are the same? Born March 14, 1899.

If you would like I can send you some group sheets, documents, etc. Let me know.

    Talk to you soon!

    AND:

21 April 2001 I am glad that you enjoyed the info.

Lets see, Elijah & Jane (SUTTON) Koonce are on the 1860 Union CO. Illinois Census (listed under Elijah Coonce"). He married Emma ALLARD in Rock Island Co. Illinois (1864) and married Catherine (BOLLERJACK) in White CO. IL (1865). Then he married Nancy EVANS in Howell, CO. MO. (1894)

The Koonce family came to Illinois from Tenn. before the children were married. They are listed in the 1850 SALINE Co. IL census listed under Elijah (the father) "Coonts" with a family of 6. Yes he did fight for the Union Army. He and his brother Robert fought in Company B, 81st Illinois Volunteers. He participated in the assult, siege and capture of Vicksberg, MS May 19-July 4 1863.

Elijah was a Methodist Preacher and preformed the following marriages:

Thomas S. Bolerjack to Sarah Jane McMurty - Aug. 14, 1883 Howell co. Sarah E. Bolerjack to Robert Lee Campbell - Aug. 16, 1883 Howell co. C.H. Bolerjack to Harriet H. Carlee - Aug. 30, 1886 - Howell co.

The J.W. Koonce To M.P. Goodman marriage, I am pretty sure that that is My great-granfather James Willis Koonce. His first marriage. I have been meaning to get a copy of that marriage licence, do you know where I can get one?

Elijah & Catherine Bollerjack are listed in the 1870 Hamilton Co Census under "W.W. Koons" with 4 children. Licence issued as a local preacher in the McLeansboro Circuit of the Mt. Vernon district in Hamilton CO. IL.

They are listed in the 1880 Arkansas Census, I don't have the document in front of me, so I will tell you about that later!

Well I have to go now! But let me know if you have any questions!
