    Joan Kay DeBoard,. 62, of Prineville, Ore., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at her home.
    A viewing was held on Friday, Dec. 14, from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Whispering Pines Funeral Home, Prineville. A recitation of Rosary was Friday at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Prineville. Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Dec. 15, 2001, at the church.
    Joan attended school in the Hood River Valley. She graduated from Wy'east High School in Hood River in 1957.
    Joan was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Prineville, to Robert and Inez (Struck) Rush. She married Snoden on Aug. 1, 1959 in Hood River, Ore. They started raising their family in Hood River and then in 1964 moved to Prineville.
    Joan worked for Ochoco Hardware, J.C. Penney Co., Erickson's super market, and in 1979 they purchased Independent Meat Market. Joan also worked for Les Schwab from 1987 to 1996 until her health problems forced her to retire.
    Her hobbies included arrowhead hunting, horseback riding, camping, and Joan was a talented seamstress. She also enjoyed canning, cooking, toll painting, and painting pictures, gardening, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
    Joan was a member of the Prineville Soroptimists and the Ochoco Players and was an Associated Member of the Crooked River Roundup Association and the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was an identifier of horses and worked in the roundup office and the paddock. Joan was a chaperone of the queens court and operated the Home Economics Building at the Crook County Fair.
    Survivors include her husband, of Prineville; two sons, Snoden James and Bob of Prineville, and one daughter, Robyn Culpepper of Hood River, Ore., one brother, Robb Rush of Prineville. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Rachel Kay and Andrew Lee Culpepper, Tanner James and Snoden Chase DeBoard. She was preceded in death by her parents.
