    «/i»Letter to Mr. A.W. Wills [apparently the attorney for B.A. Crowder], indicated that the power of attorney had been received and the matter of the claim being prepared for final action. Dated Sept 12th, 1883 or 1888.

    Ex 5 & 6. Oath of Allegiance taken by claimant March 1, 1864 at Pulaski Tenn. before L.D. Bennettt, Capt 39th [?] and [Privet? Provost?] Marshal.

    Ex 1. October 20, 1883. J.L. McFarland attorney asks suspension of further action in order to file additional evidence.

    Additional.
    November 3, 1885. Nathan A. Warren swears that during the entire war he lived in Giles Co Tenn near claimant dec'd. Remembers that in the fall of 1864m a karge command of Federal Troops under Genl. Croxton came to their section of country and took from said claimant a grey horse about 9 years old and a young boy mule the property of said claimant and took them off with them for use of the U.S. Army. Affiant never saw either of these animals again. At the time of what is known as Hoods raid in December of same year Genl Hatch's comand of hte Federal army took from said claimant from his place a yellow horse, some 12 or 13 years old and a young dun colored mule and took them off for use of the Federal Army. They also got some corn and fodder from said claimant about the same time, cannot state the quantity of either all said property belonged to claimed.

    Ex 10. November 26. 1885. F.M. Patty swears that during the late war he lived in Giles Co. Tenn, and was on the farm of claimant dec'd, in October 1864m and saw a command of Union soldiers under a Union Generals name he does not remember take from said claimant a grey horse and bay mule both sound and serviceable animals, well worth $150 each. A short time afterward the same year, affiant was present and saw a body of Union soldiers under comm'd of a Union General take from said claimant a yellow horse and a dun colored mule sound and serviceable and worth $125 each. They also took about 125 bushels of corn, and as near as affiant can remember, about 400 binds of fodder and some oats, never saw any of said property afterwards.

    Ex. 11. Deember 24, 1885. Jane E. Crowder asks a re-examinas of the claims of her deceased husband. Bluford A. Crowder she would like to inmtroduce the testimonies of Natha A. Warren Samuel Noblett and P.J. [P.T.?] Walker.

    Dec 29. 1885. J.L. McFarlamd attorney requests a re-examination of the claim.

    Document 8 - letter from the Treasury Dept, 3rd auditor's office, Wash DC, on May 26, 1887. Indicating that in reply to the letter of May 26 1887 (apparently detail case and claim paid), "the money accounts and property returns of the Officers named do not show any «u»horses or forage«/u» to have been purchased, paid for, or taken from «u»Bluford A. Crowder, of Giles County, Tenn. «/u»[this is a portion of completed Form No. 110; the underline portions were penned, while the remainder was a printed form.]
