Text Thanks for taking the time to send all the data on John W. Crowder. I do not have a copy of the Howell Co Cemetery Book. I must write and inquire if one is still available. I suppose I can write to the Historical Society? On the other hand, I wrote to that source a few months ago for help with dates of death, location of burial, etc and have had no response.

I have since found the date of death for John W. Crowder on Ancestry.com listed in the Gene Pool Individual Records. It is shown to be 1914 in Lanton, Howell Co, MO.

I found the date of marriage of John Crowder to Margaret Holloway on 23 Feb 1870, Lawrence Co, TN by A. P. Freeman, J.P. in Lawrence County, Tennesse, Marriage Records 1818-1923 by Mary Maud Carter. Margaret's surname is spelled "Holaway" in that record but I have come to feel certain that it should be "Holloway".

I do not have any of the land documents nor tax list for Howell Co. And I have done no research in the 1900's census reports. I did find two of John and Margaret's children on the 1880 census for Howell Co, MO, South Fork Township, page 33. They are Mary M. Crowder, age 9 and Amanda L. Crowder, age 7.

The 1870 Census for the Civil District No. 3, Lawrence Co, TN page 20, 116/122 Thomas Spencer Crowder is listed in the household with John and Margaret (Holloway) Crowder. Margaret (nee Holloway) was a sister to Robert W. Holloway, son of Jessie Holloway and Mary (nee Brashear or Brashears). The wife of Thomas Spencer (Elizabeth Jane Holloway) was the daughter of Robert W. Holloway and Evaline V. (nee Roper). Therefore, Margaret would be an aunt to Elizabeth Jane Holloway, I believe.

    Again, many thanks. Llano
