Elizabeth 1888-1962) were married by Mary Crowder's cousin Robert
      Holloway
in 1908 in Moko, Arkansas, Fulton County. Jesse Herman grew up in Salem,
Ark, West Plains, MO and Koskna. Mary Elizabeth moved from TN to Salem,
Ark. area. They married in 1908 after three weeks they came by covered
wagon to Welch, OK. Grandma and Grandpa John Goodpaster also came to OK
      at
the same time and settled in the same area. Velma Goodpaster Gilmore was

in Wassam Chapel area. Irene Goodpaster Sellers was born in Gaylor Bend
area, Wagoner Co. Jesse Wayne Goodpaster was born in Gaylor Bend area. My
dad bought our home place in 1920. I grew up and married and moved back
      to
the old home place, started to school in old Courtney school, went one
year. Mr. McClure was my teacher at Courtney School. So by this time we
became acquainted with and neighbored with both districts. Some of the
families I can remember from early 1920's on are the Gaylors and
      Courtneys,
also Butler, Lee, Willis, Judge Cheever, Calvin Gross, Satterwhite,
Marceau, McCowan, Murray, Stout, Cleland, Messemore, Talley, Lewis,
      Andrew,
Williams, Wymer, Coffey, Jones, Winton, Rutherford, Ashwood, Brown,
Pennington, Towe, Caywood, BEzona, Owens, McLendon, Wilson, Cocke,
      Wingate,
Duvall, Anderson. I can remember when Gaylor Bend boys would walk (ford)
Grand River and play baseball with Prairie School and Victory School, now
known as Clear Creek area. On Sept. 30, 1942 I married Ethel Lee Roach,
Booth Bend area. We have two children, a daughter, Velta Fern Goodpaster,
      19 November 1943; a son, Sherman Kent Goodpaster 31 October 1945. Kent
married Eva June Perryman on 5 May 1972. Eva June was born 24 April 1953,
and was from Chouteau. They have two daughters, Kelly Sue Goodpaster,
      born
7 May 1974 in Wagoner Community Hospital, and Brenda Lee Goodpaster, born
      7
September 1976 in Pryor Grand Valley Hospital. We still live on the old
Goodpaster homeplace. The first school at Courtney was held in log house,
one-fourth mile south of Courtney in corner. Francis Courtney gave the
school two acres. They built a new school on the corner. It started in
1909. Later it burned and the present building was built. The government
bought it in early 1940's and later it was sold at sealed bid government
sale and has been used as a dwelling house since that time. Later the
Gaylor Bend community was growing and needed their own school. They
circulated a petition needed so many signatures. My dad, Jess Goodpaster
and Dave Whitehorn were asked to sign to have enough signatures being
      told
they would remain in Courtney District. Then after the Gaylor Bend
      district
