  Text	e-mail address: RElkinssr@aol.com Janis: My name is June Elkins and your JOSIAH, b. 1779 SC, is the older brother of my GEORGE, b. 1781 SC.€ Your JOSIAH is listed on the Administration Bond dated 9 Apr 1798 along with their mother,€ MARTHA ??????, and a Bennett Langston after the death of JOSIAH and GEORGE'S father, THOMAS THORNTON,€ in 1798 Spartanburg Co., SC. These records are from the Probate Records of Spartanburg Co., SC , Estate #1963, ppgs. 4 & 5.€ JOSIAH signed his name with "his mark". Then, from the "Journal of the Ordinary 1807-1810, p. 20, 23 Jan 1808, this: "In the Court of Ordinary, January 23rd, 1808, MARTHA THORNTON, Administratrix of THOMAS THORNTON, dec'd, came into court and released one of her securities (vis) JOSIAH THORNTON by giving bond and MORDICA FOWLER and WILLIAM HOUSE as new security for her administration of said dec'd estate and said THORNTON by the court, is hereby released from this day. MORDICAI FOWLER was married to an unknown Thornton daughter and WILLIAM HOUSE was married to OLIVE THORNTON, JOSIAH'S and GEORGE'S older sister, b. 1775. I have a lot of info on GEORGE'S family - just thought you might have come across some more information on this THOMAS THORNTON'S family. There were so many THOMAS THORNTON'S, it is hard to keep them straight. There was another THOMAS THORNTON in Abbeville, SC who had 3 sons, Abraham, Eli and I have forgotten the 3rd name. This THOMAS, I am told, went to Nova Scotia during the Rev. War but returned when it was over to SC. I hope that we can share. June
